Our history

Catalyst Management Services Limited was established in 2003 uniting strategic consultants Alan Bickers Management Services with the Business Development Group, a consultancy company working in close association with chartered accountants, Lellman Wearne CurraghLimited. Mirroring the increasing convergence of the public and private sectors, the potential synergies of such a merger were long apparent.

The Business Development Group began to spread its wings in the early 90’s when executive leasing and consultancy presented themselves as practical, cost- effective solutions to the needs of several major clients. Former BDG principal, Kevin Wearne, the facilitator of the merger, can point to a very successful career as an accountant, businessman and latterly as a high-level consultant. Kevin has experience across a private sector client base covering the transport, forestry, horticulture, professional services and manufacturing and retail industries.

Bill Murphy joined Catalyst in 2007.  Bill is well known to the Bay of Plenty business community through his assistance in founding Priority One (the economic development body) and the WBOP Business Investors Forum, serving on the board of Export BOP and in his role as GM of Exporter of the Year award winner NZ Hydroponics (Bluelab).  A qualified accountant with 25 years business management experience, Bill has extensive experience in driving and managing business growth, equity raising, deal structuring, exporting, establishing advisory boards and business owner mentoring .

A close association with the long-established accountancy practice of Lellman Wearne CurraghLimited provides the company with a reassuring solidity and substance, and firmly anchors Catalyst in the long-haul world of true and sustained achievement.

The association with Logistic Information Systems provided the capability of providing high quality information technology to support the strategic and operational solutions developed by Catalyst for its clients.
